Since 2013, Fuji Oil has been vertically integrated into the shea business by the acquisition of a shea processing plant in Techiman, now known as Fuji Oil Ghana.

Fuji Oil Ghana specializes in the fractionation of shea butter. These fractions are provided to Fuji Oil Europe in Ghent, Belgium, where they are used to create sustainable CBE (cocoa butter equivalents).

In 2021, we launched our Shea Sustainability Program 'Tebma Kandu' because we want to create a sustainable, traceable shea supply chain. Our commitment lies in maximizing the value created in Africa through fair, local procurement and local processing as well as ensuring the highest level of traceability with the lowest possible carbon footprint.

We'd like to take you on a journey. Our journey.
Quite literally: teleport yourself to the Ghanaian bush, explore a local village, or take a virtual tour of our factory and immerse yourself in our shea value chain.

Our commitments translated to KPI's:

  • By 2030, 50% of shea kernels from Tebma Kandu cooperatives;
  • By 2030, 75% of shea traceable to cooperative;
  • By 2025, 50% increase in local employment (vs. 2017) in our factory;
  • By 2023, 100% steam production from non-fossil energy sources;
  • 6,000 seedlings planted every year.

Want to know how we're doing on these KPI's? Interested in the details of our sustainable shea strategy?
